ELDER PATRIOT – Over the weekend Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell caved to the wishes of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on a massive $1 trillion-plus spending bill that will fund the Democrats’ globalist initiatives for the next five months, through the end of the fiscal year.
There’s no way to put lipstick on this pig. Essentially, Schumer told them what to do and they did it. The omnibus spending bill still has to pass both houses before it can be submitted to President Trump for his signature but with Democrats now solidly behind it Ryan and McConnell will have no trouble finding the necessary Republican votes.
The bill will continue funding key Democratic initiatives that Ryan, McConnell and other virtually every other member of the Republican Party promised the constituents who elected them they would finally be defunded.
At the same time Ryan and McConnell refused to fund the centerpiece of Trump’s campaign and one that had propelled him to the presidency.
That’s right! Planned Parenthood will be fully funded! Funding for sanctuary cities? Fully funded!
When it came time to give the people something they actually wanted, Ryan and McConnell basically told them to “F*ck Off.”
Ryan and McConnell refused to give President Trump a single penny for the border wall. Even while they’re applauding Trump’s militarism in Syria and North Korea they refused to give him the funding that will require.
Trump asked for $1.5 billion for the wall. That’s 0.15% of this budget authorization. Ryan and McConnell did agree to give President Trump $1.5 billion for border security but even that was half of what the president had wanted.
That didn’t stop them from agreeing to close to $200 billion to fund the sanctuary cities that are a result of our open southern border. Every idiot realizes that locking doors saves money, property, and prevents violence in their homes. In this case it can also go along way towards curbing the drug epidemic that cost 52,000 Americans their lives last year.
Whatever happened to an ounce of prevention?
Paul Ryan has total control of the House of Representatives where Republicans cold hold the majority. He can get passed anything he wants to get passed. The fact that he chose to do Chuck Schumer’s bidding and ignore the people who voted for him confirms what we’ve been saying here for quite some time, Paul Ryan is not a conservative, he is not a policy wonk, and he does not represent Republican values.
Similarly, Mitch McConnell controls the Senate and everything that happens there. Republicans own the majority in this chamber as well but McConnell runs the place as if they don’t.
The left-wing journal, The Atlantic characterized McConnell as a master manipulator and strategist.
McConnell proved that when he dispensed with the 60-vote cloture rule so that Neil Gorsuch could be confirmed with a simple majority. There is nothing stopping him from doing the same thing with every other piece of legislation that he chooses to bring to the floor. That he isn’t willing to do so speaks to his will. Cloture was the product of a corrupt Congress more than 150 years ago and is not a Constitutional requirement.
Rhetoric aside, Ryan and McConnell funded everything former President Obama wanted, even his un-Constitutional executive orders. With this funding bill, that doesn’t change at all. You can draw your own conclusions as to whose side Ryan and McConnell are on.
President Trump has been left shoveling sh*t against the rising tide of the Republican D.C. swamp.
